The Human Concerns Ministry oversees projects related to our covenant with the Father English Center in Paterson, NJ.
The projects provide the children from kindergarten through high school with the seasonal necessities related to each project:
- Swimsuits/Beach Towels
- Back Packs/School Supplies
- Thanksgiving Turkeys/Food - Click here for list
- Christmas Gifts
- Frozen Food Trays – 4 times/year
- Ongoing collection of food & clothing - Click here for list.
- Special Projects as needed
Additional projects not related to Fr. English Center:
- Vermont Blanket Drive - We collect blankets, gloves and hats in early October until the end of November to accommodate the needs of the needy who do not receive their assistance checks until sometime in November.
- Eva’s Kitchen – 3 or 4 times annually
Volunteers representing our parish travel to Paterson to the Eva's Kitchen facility to prepare and serve a hot meal for approximately 250 disadvantaged people. Please note, volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Volunteers meet at 9:00 AM in front of St. Joe's Church on the designated day and travel via carpool to Paterson. Click here for Calendar.
- Homeless Solutions – serve a meal monthly to Morris County homeless men, women and children.
Volunteers meet at St. Joe's Church at 3:45 PM to car pool to the shelter on Hanover Avenue, Morris Twp., to prepare a meal. We welcome adults and teenage high school student volunteers.

- Redeemer Soup Kitchen - St. Joe's Church teams with St. Mark's Episcopal Church to prepare a hot meal for 280-300 disadvantaged people at Redeemer Church, Morristown. Donations of food and money gratefully accepted. To participate in this project or to donate, please call Debbie Servididio at 973-543-4748.

- Interfaith Council for Homeless Families of Morris County
St. Joe’s collects donated essential items, contained in the attached “wish List”, for homeless families of Morris County. If you would like to donate items throughout the year, please call Mary Creamer to arrange receipt of the items: 973-229-4828/973-543-9522 or drop off the items in the Narthex the weekend of July 21 & 22, 2012.
