Interchurch Activities

2010 Interchurch Committee of the Mendhams

The committee consists of a dynamic group of Clergy and laymen representing the Churches of the Mendhams. The group meets every other month at alternating churches. The group sponsors varying projects during the year encouraging family participation.

Upcoming Projects/Events are:

Mid-Week Lenten Services – Every Wednesday during Lent, beginning Ash Wednesday, a service is held at Grace Lutheran Church at Noon followed by a light lunch of soup and bread. Each of the churches in the Mendhams takes a turn providing a clergyman to lead the service and that clergyman’s congregation provides the soup following the service. Volunteers from St. Joseph’s are needed to help on March 17th.    Please sign-up by contacting Jane McCarthy at 973-543-4502 or email her at tisjem93@gmail.com.

Good Friday Cross Walk – April 2, 2010 – 1:00 p.m.

Easter Sunrise Service – April 4, 2010 – 6:30 a.m. Hilltop Presbyterian

Garden of Hope – May through October 2010 – The community garden, sponsored by the Interchurch committee, is located on the campus of the Sisters of the Community of St. John the Baptist, 82 West Main Street, Mendham. The produce from the garden is used to help feed the needy and homeless in Morris County. Last year over 200 lbs. of fresh produce from the garden was delivered to the Interfaith Food Pantry. Volunteers are needed with all phases of gardening from planting to harvest. Call Jane McCarthy at 973-543-4502 or email her at tisjem93@gmail.com for more information.

CROP Walk – October 2010 - In conjunction with the Church World Service program, members of our parish and all the local churches walk to raise funds to help in the fight against world hunger, including the hungry in the USA.

Please watch St. Joseph’s Sunday Bulletin for additional details of all these events. We encourage you to participate in these wonderful Ecumenical events as a family.
