Lectors proclaim the Word of God. They also read the petitions of the Prayer of the Faithful. One lector is assigned for each Mass. The lector is responsible for reviewing the readings in advance and participating in the Entrance Procession.
Eucharistic Ministers assist in the distribution of Communion, both the consecrated Hosts and the Chalice of the Blood of Christ. The assigned sacristan purifies and cleanses the vessels after Mass and sets up for the next Mass.
Guidelines for Ministers of Holy Communion
Altar Servers serve at the altar to assist the Presider at Mass. Altar servers serve at all weekend liturgies and special Masses throughout the year. Some of the tasks performed by the altar servers are: carrying the cross or candles in the processional and recessional, processing with the gift bearers, assisting the Presider with set-up of table for Eucharist.
Training is provided during the year. The Altar Server Ministry is open to boys and girls from the 4th grade and above.
Please contact the Parish House if you are interested in being part of the Liturgical Ministry Team at St. Joseph’s Church.
